Meet Kryno, the leader of REVBOUNTY clan
During the Blast Royale beta, some brilliant clans have joined our community who are all playing a part in forging a competitive scene in the game. Throughout this series of interviews, we chat to the leaders of these clans to find out about the early esports scene of Blast Royale. Kryno, leader of REVBOUNTY joins us this week.
Blast Royale: Hi Kryno, thanks for joining us! To start off, how did you get into gaming and esports?
REV Kryno: I’ve been a gamer since I was a young child, but never really took it to a competitive level. But a few seasons into a game called Battlelands Royale, I decided I wanted to try to become one of the best players. And that competitive experience has made me play every game competitively since then. It gives more reason to play and take gaming as seriously as a sport.
BR: So what led you to create REVBOUNTY?
REV Kryno: REV was created on the 27th May 2022. Some friends and I wanted to compete with the other teams and dominate [Blast Royale] from an early stage. We were all former pro battlelands players, and since this game is similar to battlelands, we thought we could easily play competitively here too without much adjustment.
BR: Wow, so you’re still quite a new clan! What would you say REV’s biggest achievement is so far?
REV Kryno: To be honest, we’ve achieved a lot for such an early stage of the game, so it’s hard to pinpoint our biggest achievement. High tournament placements with big earnings, significant growth of our discord server, having a clear brand and loyal team are a few things that I’m happy with so far.
BR: Awesome! You’ve touched on this earlier in our interview but what brings REV to Blast Royale specifically?
REV Kryno: Battlelands royale shutting down meant that a lot of former players were looking for something similar to switch to. After trying a bunch of games, we reached the conclusion that Blast Royale is the best option. The game also has huge competitive potential with the big investment in esports and the developers listening to a lot of community feedback before the game is even released.
BR: Yes, we’re also excited about esports in Blast Royale and can’t wait to host more tournaments! To prepare, are you recruiting new members at the moment? How would aspiring clan members join your roster?
REV Kryno: We are openly recruiting, however we keep this process very secretive and have long trials before accepting anyone to the team. Skill isn’t as big a factor as getting along with our current players. It’s important to maintain a roster of players that are happy with each other, and not introduce a new player who might cause problems within the team. However nobody will be accepted without first being polled, tested in-game, and doing a few other trials to make sure they will fit in. This process can take weeks or months depending on the recruits progress.
BR: That sounds intense! As for you, what would you say is the most challenging aspect of being a clan leader?
REV Kryno: As a leader you have to be prepared to make everyone in your team happy and motivated to play and represent the team. It can take a lot of time and commitment to run a team and it’s definitely more difficult than it seems. But I’d also mention that when you first start your team, it can be difficult to find loyal trustworthy players if you don’t have a lot of connections.
BR: It does seem like a tough job. What advice would you give to aspiring clan leaders?
REV Kryno: If you want to create a great clan, you need to have a lot of connections. This may be to highly skilled players, graphic designers, video editors, managers etc. It’s extremely difficult to create a team on your own, you need other people helping you manage things and you need players committed to your clan.
