From Battlelands to Blast Royale, The ᴇX clan are here to stay!
During the Blast Royale beta, some brilliant clans have joined our community who are all playing a part in forging a competitive scene in the game. Throughout this series of interviews, we chat to the leaders of these clans to find out about the early esports scene of Blast Royale. This week, we caught up with Vindi, Badgirl, WooTy, and Diabla — co-leaders of ᴇX.
Blast Royale: Hi guys, thanks for joining us! Firstly, How did you all get into gaming and esports?
Vindi: Actually my kids introduced me to a similar mobile game about 3 or 4 years ago called Battlelands Royale. I immediately fell in love with the battle royale way of playing. Before that I played games like Sims, Simcity and Age of Empires. I have always been fond of gaming, all the way back to Super Mario Bros on Commodore64!
Badgirl: I also got into games and esports because of my kids! I love gaming and also streaming games, it’s awesome to see how much fun other players have in streams.
WooTy: I was 12 years old when I saw my cousin playing an online game. Since then I have been gaming online nonstop!
Diabla: I got into gaming and esports because of my younger sibling. He plays lots of games; he invited me to play a few shooting games and I fell in love with gaming.
BR: So you all started gaming because of family — awesome! So what led you to create ᴇX?
Vindi: I was a part of ᴇX from the beginning almost 2 years ago, when it was created for Battlelands Royale. After discovering Blast Royale, I brought Wooty, Badgirl and Diabla to ᴇX, and together we are working on making ᴇX yet again a phenomenal clan both on the casual and the competitive scene.
BR: What would you say is your clans biggest achievement so far?
Vindi: ᴇX as a Blast Royale clan, is only 4 weeks old, but we have already managed to recruit some amazing players, who are doing very well competitively. We are in no rush to achieve big just yet as the game is still in beta mode. For now we are just concentrating on finding the right players that can help us grow as a team.
Badgirl: The biggest achievement in our clan is that we work as a team. We are like a family — we care for each other, we spend most of the time together, and that’s what makes us successful as a clan. Our clan also offer a lot to our members, like our ᴇX of the week tournament every Sunday, where we compete against each other and get some awesome prizes.
WooTy: I’d say it’s the ᴇX of the week tournament that we host every Sunday for ᴇX members only. The members love to fight in Blast Royale for some nice prizes. Also the active chat we have with the members is awesome.
Diabla: Our clan’s biggest achievement so far is that we are one of the most active clans in the game and in discord.
BR: It’s early days for ᴇX and it already sounds like a fun clan to join! So what brings your clan to Blast Royale?
Vindi: After Battlelands Royale closed, I’ve been actively looking for a similar mobile game to play. I randomly ended up on the Blast Royale discord server (shoutout to Kryno for sharing the server with me) and I instantly liked the concept. I have never played a game with NFTs, so I am really looking forward to exploring that part of the game.
Badgirl: Blast Royal is really similar to Battlelands Royale — a game that all of us played before. We were a big community and we are happy that we found a game like Blast Royal where we can play together like in beautiful old times. I like the Blast server alot and it’s awesome to see how all the devs work on it.
WooTy: I have been in the blast discord for months now and it got me totally sucked in! The devs do a good job, work fast, and are really awesome with listening to the community.
Diabla: Blast Royale is the future of gaming! Not only are you having fun while playing but there’s also the potential to earn money. I truly believe this game will revolutionize crypto gaming.
BR: If someone reading this interview wants to join ᴇX, how would they get involved? Are you recruiting new members at the moment?
Vindi: Yes, we are always looking for new members in ᴇX. You don’t necessarily need to be the best player to join ᴇX. We are looking for players who are willing to put in the time and the effort to make ᴇX the best place to be. The competitive gaming environment can be cruel. ᴇX is a safe place from all that.
WooTy: We first like to see that people are active for a while before we give them a chance. In the future we will have play tests to see how well people play Blast.
Badgirl: We aspire to have a friendly, familiar and funny clan. Our requirements to join ᴇX at the moment, like the others already mentioned, are to be active in game and discord.
Diabla: We also aspire to be a role model to future coming clans. In addition to the other requirements my co-leaders have mentioned, being non-toxic is a plus as we want to have a friendly non-toxic clan environment. After the official game release our requirements will change.
BR: What would you say is the most challenging aspect of being a clan leader?
Vindi: Being a leader sometimes requires making difficult decisions. Sometimes these decisions affect some of your players negatively. We have to remember that behind every discord name, there is a real person with real feelings. Finding the balance between what is best for the clan, as well as what is best for each and everyone of your members, can be a big challenge. A clan shouldn’t be all about game achievements, it also has to feel like a home.
Badgirl: I think it is to hold the clan together — leaders need to be very active and make sure they’re taking care of all the clan members.
WooTy: Ensuring that every single member we have feels welcome and enjoys staying with us because it’s a group of people to have fun with. That’s the power of ᴇX.
Diabla: The most challenging aspect of being a leader is definitely being able to keep your clan members active and being able to retain them in your clan. If you don’t keep your clan members active your clan will most likely die. Retaining clan members is a challenge because there’s lots of clans out there and more are coming. The competition is tough !
BR: Say someone reading this wants to start their own clan. What advice would you give to aspiring clan leaders?
Vindi: Running a clan isn’t always easy. You have members from all over the world, of all ages, with different beliefs and opinions. So keep an open mind. You can’t make everyone happy all the time, but you can do your best to meet everyone halfway. Be as inclusive as possible.
Badgirl: Be yourself, be sure that you have a good team and that you work hand in hand together, be there for each other and talk about everything, sometimes opinions differ and it is important as a leader to talk about it and find solutions!
WooTy: Don’t act like a boss but as a normal member when you can. As long as you as a leader are really active the members will follow.
Diabla: I have 2 pieces of advice! Number one: have patience.It takes time to grow a clan. You
might not see results right away but always remember slow and steady wins the race. Number two: build a strong foundation. By that I mean choose your admins wisely — remember you want someone who will work side by side with you and be someone you can trust.
BR: Really great advice guys, thank you! Any final words or shoutouts?
Vindi: Yes, I would like to send my appreciation to all the members and staff of the Blast Royale community, who are there on the discord server every day with the goal to make it a pleasant place to hang out and share their experience with the game.
