2021 Recap

Before going into 2022 full steam, we want to share with you a few highlights from the passing year.
At the beginning of 2021 we weren’t even thinking of making our way into blockchain. The classic free-to-play model was established and we were deep into making our shooting gameplay fun, trying various gunplay setups, controls and other things.
Moving ahead in a very mature market with leaders holding their thrones for years is anything but easy, yet we were slowly making our way by paying close attention to the gameplay, making it fun and fresh. Lockdowns and other pandemic-related issues were adding to the set of problems, not making our lives easier.
In the middle of a year, waves of NFTs and blockchain projects started to make more and more headlines. Around that time we were starting to plan possible meta systems on top of our gameplay. As you may know, a proper modern free-to-play game offers much more than bare gameplay, sometimes titles offer no gameplay at all, which is not the way we like it. So we were expecting a tough battle ahead.
At the same time we were reading news, and it was hard not to notice the rise of play-and-earn leaded by Axie Infinity. And one day, following a lunch meeting with one of our awesome investors, we decided to take a closer look on this new promising model.
Last few months of the year felt bigger and longer than the whole year. We connected with a lot of new people, acquired tons of knowledge, and clearly saw a path for Blast Royale in this new world of play-and-earn, which, we believe, soon become a dominant way of making games.
It’s no way easy though. It will be a challenging and exciting journey where you, the community, will be at the heart of it. That’s why we promise to dedicate our time to communicate with you and looking forward to our shared future. See you next time!
